Vino, Sweets, and Sativa: A Match Made in Heaven

By hahoakland

Ever wondered why you get the munchies? A recent study published in Nature Neuroscience shows that THC fits into receptors in the brain’s olfactory bulb, increasing an animal’s ability to smell food, making it irresistible.vino-sweets-sativa-1

So what does this mean for you? Well, when you’re high you actually have a better ability to smell and taste food. Maybe it’s time you put down the popcorn bowl and put your special skills to use! Luckily, tasting events abound in the Seattle area.

We particularly liked Renton’s Sweet Decadence Wine and Chocolate Bar, which offers wine and chocolate tastings on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 3:00-8:00 PM. (Cost is $30 per person. Reservations are recommended). Sweet Decadence chocolates are handmade in-house and each paired with a wine for interesting palate combinations. The bar also serves pastries, coffee, and other goodies. So come prepared to sample plenty of amazing combinations.

While the staff at Sweet Decadence are experts at pairing wine and chocolate, you can turn to your local Seattle pot shop for the perfect marijuana to compliment your experience. Have a Heart: Skyway/Seatac is located conveniently close to Sweet Deacadence, so pop in to enhance your tasting superpowers.

Recommendations: Since it’s THC that enhances your tasting ability, it would be tempting to go with a high THC strain like Black Cherry Soda (25% THC from Clandestine).

However, you’ll be drinking wine, so you might want to consider a milder strain like classic Blue Dream (20% THC from Artisan) or Gorilla Glue (21.9% THC from Mary Jane Cannabis).

But really, with all the culinary-named weed strains, how can you resist playing with the tasting theme?

We here at your favorite Skyway weed shop went with Chocolate Kush (14.6 % THC from Whole Cannabis), and, to compliment Sweet Decadence’s famous blackberry truffles, a nice bowl of Blackberry Cream (20.9% THC from Forbidden Farms). Bon appétit!
