Are you stoked for the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Friday, March 17th at Key Arena? Oh yeah! We’ve been checking their set lists for the dates they’ve played so far – and listening to all the old jams to get in the mood. You know what else gets you in the mood for a RHCP show? GOOD WEED! Have a Heart in Belltown can get you set up with the best strains of marijuana for seeing a rock show. Check out our suggestions below.
If you want to kick back and go old school, listen to Freaky Styley (1985) – produced by George Clinton, the Godfather of Funk. One of the singles off that album was “Hollywood (Africa)” – a great jam. And check out the video for “Catholic School Girls Rule.”
Try: Blueberry Silvertip from Pioneer Nuggets – starts at $15/1g
If you’re sticking with the old school vibe, re-listen to Mother’s Milk (1989) – RHCP’s first gold record, produced by Michael Beinhorn. Two great tracks to get high to are “Knock Me Down” and their cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.”
Try: Chocolate Thai from Dama – starts at $24/2g
Travel back to the 1990s with Californication (1999) – produced by Rick Rubin. This album marked a shift for the RHCPs to a more melodic and spiritual vibe. “Scar Tissue” is a great example of this, and you’ve got to give “Otherside” another listen while you’re at it.
Try: Harambe from Solstice Collection – starts at $10/1g
Bring your ears back to the present with The Getaway (2016) – produced by Danger Mouse. This album marks the first time in 25 years the RHCPs worked with a producer other than Rick Rubin, and you can really hear it in their sound. Give “Dark Necessities” and “Go Robot” a listen.
Try: Lodi Dodi from Soulshine Cannabis – starts at $12/1g
