A fascinating creature with an even more fascinating mind, NPR host Ira Glass will be hosting his own show at Benaroya Hall, An Evening With Ira Glass: Seven Things I’ve Learned, Sunday, January 29th at 7 p.m.
“For this show, you’ll want to enhance your faculties with a nice heady cerebral buzz, and Have A Heart has no short supply of possible strains for deep thoughts, like Blue Dream, Chernobyl, Easy Rider, Headband, Jesus OG, Mack Daddy, Nightmare Cookies and more.”
The event is sure to draw both old and new fans of This American Life, the popular long-running (1995), weekly American radio program. Glass is set to open up topics on whatever is going on that day, and whatever he deems interesting, which hints at the promise of an organic night of riffing and spontaneous live entertainment.
Which brings us to our first major plot point: you know what would make An Evening with Ira Glass that much more enjoyable? Weed from Have A Heart Belltown. You owe it to yourself and your partners-in-crime for the night to make your first stop at the always-satisfying downtown Seattle pot shop. You’ll want to enhance your faculties with a nice heady cerebral buzz, and Have A Heart has no short supply of possible strains that can accomplish the deep-thoughts-high, as in: Blue Dream, Chernobyl (don’t meltdown on this one!), Easy Rider, Headband, Jesus OG, Mack Daddy, Nightmare Cookies, Optimus Prime, Pineapple Skunk, Skywalker OG, Snoop’s Dream, Sour Diesel, and really bust a brain cell or two with Stephen Hawking.
We are grateful to this dominating Seattle weed store for its continuous variety of in-demand strains and for always having something new to try.
To tell his story, Ira Glass will patch together an ad-lib narrative, lots of banter with the audience, and he’ll use multiple media sources to get his points across. He’ll prepare slightly, relying on a few video and audio clips. There’s something about Glass we can’t put our finger on that makes him undefinable, and so square that he’s hip. Maybe it’s because his psychologist Mom earned a name for herself as the eminent authority on the topic of infidelity. Or could it be his early start writing jokes for Baltimore radio personality Johnny Walker, while still in high school?
His ties with colleague and smashingly-successful comedy writer David Sedaris only add to his allure. Can you imagine the hipster literary parties these two could attend? Can you see them after smoking Green Crack, together, playfully verbally jousting each other until they both melt into an electrically-crackling pile of brain matter, or maybe they’d each spontaneously combust?
Who knows? At an Evening with Ira Glass, we feel like anything can happen. Buy Ira Glass Tickets here.
