Cannabis strains impart a boggling variety of flavors and aromas, from the sweet citrus tang of Durban Bubble Gum to the pine and lilac scent of Galactic Glue. But when the long, hot dog days of summer really hit, it’s fruity cannabis strains we want again and again.
While we love experimenting with all the new concentrates, vape cartridges, tinctures, and edibles that hit our shelves on a near-daily basis, the hot weather really makes us crave the old-fashioned tactile thrill of crumbling fresh flower into a fat joint or stuffed into a pipe.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of a few of our current favorite fruity cannabis strains to inspire your summer day trips. As always, check the live menu before heading down to the dispensary. Cannabis is a fresh and all-natural product, so it arrives (and leaves) the dispensary faster than you can say Tangerine Cookies!
Favorite Fruity Cannabis Strains for Summer
Tangerine Cookies by 1937 Farms

This sweet, citrus-tinged and all-around enjoyable flower imparts a pleasing blend of uplift and inspiration mixed with a relaxing, euphoric high. We classify it as a sativa, so it shouldn’t glue you to the couch unless you overindulge.
Gooberry by Artizen Cannabis Company

Another sweet ride on the palate (and the mind), Gooberry can really knock you out if you’re not careful. That’s one reason we like using it to microdose, as we’ve written about previously. However you use it, you’ll enjoy the flavorful floral and berrylike flavors and aromas from this indica.
Sherbet by Gabriel

This phenomenal indica exhibits mouth-watering flavors of cool fruity sherbet, berries, and peppermint. Those looking for a medicinal effect love it for its relief of anxiety, nausea, and pain. The rest of us just find it damn delicious!
Pineapple Upside Down Cake by Phat Panda

As the name suggests, you’ll get a burst of tropical flavor with this sativa-dominant hybrid. Fans describe a lovely uplift, with a mood-enhancing quality that makes you want to get moving into a bright new day. We couldn’t agree more!
Banana Punch by Seattle’s Private Reserve

Again, the name is the giveaway here. You’ll detect the luscious and unctuous flavor and aroma of overripe bananas in this indica-leaning hybrid. Look for a heavy body high; Banana Punch has been described as “tranquilizing.”
G Cut by Seattle’s Private Reserve

This mostly-indica hybrid strain is just lovely to look at, with deep green buds streaked with purple tones, orange pistils, and white trichomes. The flavors are predominantly grapey and lemony, offset slightly by a piney undertone. You’ll feel a relaxing, sedative effect with a welcome sense of well-being thrown in. Its fans love it for unwinding after work or before bedtime.
Magnum PI by Treehawk Farms

We’ll quote the grower on this one: “Magnum PI is said to be a descendant of one of the Hawaiian family strains, although nobody is quite sure which one.” This may be a hint to its psychoactive qualities, though there’s a nice hit of classic sativa stimulation as well. Look for a fruity citrus flavor with some earth thrown in for balance. We think it’s a hit!
