From pods of killer whales to powdery ski slopes, Washington State has always been a gem. But the state has gotten even cooler in the last ten years. Legalization of recreational marijuana is an obvious factor, but we can now also boast one of the country’s premier wine regions. Here at Bothell’s best pot shop, we’re all about enjoying both. And we’re loving the line-up of fall events at nearby Chateau St. Michelle. Although Washington wine has only recently taken its deserved place in the global market, Chateau St. Michelle was way ahead of the game. With fifty years in the business, the state’s founding winery has developed some serious know-how. So this fall we’ll be swinging by these Chateau St. Michelle events to sample their fine local food and wine:
Bin on the Lake Wine Dinner (November 2)
This Kirkland event features an original menu by Executive Chef Frank Rog. Chateau St. Michelle winemaker David Rosenthal will be overseeing the wine tasting and talking guests through the wines and pairings. Prosciutto wrapped figs and braised short ribs? Yes, please. Tickets are $125 per person. (If you want to get your appetite in gear beforehand, swing by South Seattle’s favorite pot shop to stock up on fine Washington weed.)
Blind Taste Like a Master Sommelier (November 2)
Here at Have a Heart Skyway, we like to think we’re pretty good at blind tasting. When it comes to weed anyway! But we’re excited to improve our wine tasting vocabulary with Ste. Michelle Wine Estates’ Master Sommelier and Senior Director of Wine Education, Rob Bigelow. Starts at 6:00 PM. Approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are $90.
Winemaker Dinner with Tracey Keller (November 18)
We’re dying to sample Chateau Ste. Michelle’s 50th Anniversary Cabernet, which will be served with dinner at the estimable Matt’s Oyster Lounge in Redmond. Menu is TBA.
