Dabbing vs. Vaping — Here’s Everything You Need to Know

By hahoakland

With legal marijuana being so new, plenty of Have a Heart’s customers are still learning about the innovative ways to enjoy cannabis. So we put together this little post about dabbing vs. vaping — it’s everything you need to know!

What is dabbing?
Dabbing is the process of placing cannabis hash onto a hot surface so that it changes its phase from a solid or a liquid to a vapor. There are a variety of different types of devices that will work for dabbing. These specific dabbing tools are known as “dab rigs” and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials.

Cannabinoids and terpenes are the chemical constituents of cannabis that get us high. When these chemicals are heated to, or past their boiling points they go from being a solid wax or shatter to a vapor that you can inhale into your lungs.

Different cannabinoids and terpenes have different boiling point temperatures, so you can control your high by what temperature your nail is at. Check out our online menu which has a huge selection of dabs that range from top shelf 6* Bubble hash from companies like Gold Leaf Gardens to more budget friendly Slab Mechanix Blue Venom Wax.

What is vaping?

Vaping is considered by most to be the use of vapor cartridges and pre-loaded pens to consume cannabis concentrates. The term vaping started out with the use of the BC vaporizer back in the 1990s. The term now has a dual meaning for the use of vaporizing concentrates and also vaporizing cannabis flower. Companies like Oleum, Artizen and Fairwinds all make vaporizer cartridges that are filled with liquid cannabis hash oil.

These vaporizers heat up the cannabis oil and allow for the user to inhale the vapor using a pre-charged battery that looks like a pen.

Which one is better?

Each method of cannabis concentrate consumption has its benefits and its weakness. Dabbing concentrates requires a dab rig, propane and a torch, a tool to handle the hash with, all of which can be rather costly initially and awkward to handle in public. But the benefits to dabbing cannabis concentrates are the amazing flavors and the amount of concentrate that can be consumed in one sitting. Dab rigs are a great option for home or areas that are more accepting of cannabis consumption. Vape pens are a great option for folks who are on the go because of their portability and discreetness.

With low odor and the ability to last for multiple hits vape pens have their place. For folks who have a high tolerance it may take multiple puffs on the vapor pen to feel the effects fully, so it may make for a better maintenance high after you’ve already dabbed.

Both options are available and can be pre-ordered on our online ordering service. Stop by and check out our tremendous selection of different types concentrates and vape pen cartridges!

Honestly i am happy with vaping. Never really tried dabbing (maybe i should), because as a business man i am always on a go, and to have Vapour2 in my pocket or bag is more comfortable for me. I am grateful for the small size and easy use. But i never know, i may try once and will change my mind.
